Mountain medicine: theoretical and practical training for high-mountain guides

This professional course is designed for mountain guides who wish to strengthen their ability to respond to emergencies in alpine terrain. Through a learning approach combining classroom theory, e-learning modules, and realistic mountain scenarios, participants develop the essential reflexes needed to manage complex medical situations, perform effective first-aid interventions, and make decisions that are adapted to the constraints of the high-mountain environment. Led by experienced medical professionals and seasoned mountain guides, this training enables participants to become reliable links in the high-mountain rescue chain.

Training Objectives : 

Gain confidence to handle complex situations in mountainous environments.

Become a reliable actor in the rescue chain and improve decision-making on the field.

Understand the intervention priorities specific to alpine conditions and technical rescues.

Update knowledge in first aid, anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies.

 

Course Content :

- Effective first-aid gestures and evacuation techniques on the field.

- Technical terrain challenges, with or without rope, and first-aid adapted to these environments and accidents.

- Anatomy & Physiology: Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Neurological, Musculoskeletal systems.

- Pharmacology: General overview.

- Duration: 24 hours of training over 3 days (1 day e-learning, 1 day theoretical classroom course, 1 day practical workshops in the field)

- Location: Chamonix Valley, France

- Participants: Up to 20 participants

- Prerequisites: Certified high-mountain guide

- Teaching Methods: E-learning, lectures, and practical workshops 

- Evaluation: Continuous assessment during training and online learning questionnaires

- Frequency: One to two sessions per year

- Price: €600 including VAT
